RARE L.H. Sholder Miners Candlestick Pat. June 17, 1890 Never Used Store Display Description From the Leo Stambaugh Collection We are please to offer this rare find that is a "must have" for collectors of mining artifacts. Cleveland, OH - Cuyahoga County - L.H. Sholder Candlestick The stick measures 7.5" long and is stamped with a patent date of June 17, 1890. The stick was made by Louis H. Sholder and was patent # 430,488. Features a distinctive castellated thimble which appeared to be a common theme with Sholder sticks. {REF: A Collector's Guide to Antique Miners' Candlesticks by Wilson & Bobrink}. Estimated value $1,000 - $3,000 Being that Mr. Stambaugh purchased this stick from the proprietor of the store from which it sat as a display model, I would expect to see a premium placed on this stick.
