Relive the days when "typing" meant you had a personal connection with the machine. There is no computer keyboard or mobile device that can match the feel of an IBM Selectric typewriter. Use it for chores that are difficult to perform on a computer printer...forms, labels, envelopes, etc., or write someone a snail-mail letter personally typed.If you make a mistake, no need to start over, simply hit the correction key, retype the letter in error and continue on. There's occasionally a Selectric Personal Typewriter on ebay and they're always called "very rare". I cannot find any information on actual production numbers but I've never seen one in an office environment. Most were sold to individuals which meant they have relatively few miles compared to commercial office machines. The Selectric Personal Typewriter is also unique in that it uses Selectric II mechanics but with the easier to change Selectric III ribbon. This Personal Typewriter is typical of the few IBM Selectric Personal Typewriters that I've seen being very clean inside and appears to have low mileage and been well cared for. It has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, sound dampening material replaced, high wear parts examined, replaced, and upgraded as needed and critical adjustments checked. Several mechanical sub-assemblies have been disassembled, cleaned, lubed, reassembled and adjusted. A critical high failure (due to age) nylon part has been upgraded with a metal replacement. It's been completely lubricated using modern synthetic lubricants that resist drying out and gumming up with age. Every function has been checked and tested extensively and a new IBM Film Ribbon and Lift Off Tape installed - all performed by a factory trained and experienced technician. Included is an additional new IBM Film Ribbon and Lift Off Tape, Operating Instructions, and an IBM 12 pitch Letter Gothic (my favorite 12 pitch)element. 30 day parts and labor warranty. Return for repair or refund. Check my feedback as a seller. Before packing, the outer cover will be secured to the frame with four bolts as IBM shipped originally. This will require a screwdriver to remove the bolts from the bottom. Instructions provided.
