12" Reverse Helix Trommel Custom Build This Reverse Helix Trommel is a Custom Build and includes two (2) different 12" barrels.  In the event you are not familiar with a Reverse Helix Trommel they work off the Archimedes Screw design where they will take the heavier materials like black sand, dense rocks, garent, gold, silver and platinum and bring them upwards against a slight tilt and water flow and deposit them at the front of the trommel barrel.  At the same time the lighter materials like dirt, rocks, silt and similar items wash out the back of the trommel.  So you end up with a washed concentrate directly out of the front of the trommel barrel.  The popular Panning or Spiral Wheels also work off the same Archimedes Screw design except they are very limited in amount of material which can be ran.  As an example, a 12" spiral panning wheel can run maybe 60 lbs of dirt an hour while a 12" Reverse Helix Trommel can run upwards of 1,000 to 2,000 lbs of dirt an hour depending on the material.  This trommel is a ideal setup for a 1 to 2 man small operation and weekend miner. Let's get into the build of this system: 1. Frame is aluminum and very light.  The frame without the barrel probably weighs less than 40 lbs and can be easily carried up a hill.  Additionally, the frame will disassemble with a set of Allen Heads so it's possible take this apart and hike 5 or 10 miles into the back country then reassemble and start running.  The 12" tubes weigh about 30 lbs each. 2. System runs off 12 volts so it will work off a car battery.  3. Includes 2 barrels.  One is a very deep 1/2" wide cut and is best for running a lot of material quickly.  The other barrel is a 1/4" multi-cut which is best for running slowly but getting the smallest fine gold or using it for clean-ups to further concentrate the material.  The barrel with the deep 1/2" wide cut is from California Sluice Box and is brand new, never used!!  This barrel with shipping was over $350. 4. Grate for screening larger rocks as shown in photo.  This can be easily changed out and believe the grate is around 3/8" expanded metal. 5. Hopper is oversided and outside measures 15" x 15" width.  Inside measurement is roughly 12" x 12". We occasionally used this in a shop and for field use you would want to mount some spray bars so it needs a little bit of plumbing.  We used a couple of water hoses in the shop but either way would work.  Also, we just used one or two 2x4's under the front of the trommel for pitch.  We found running it around 8 to 10 degrees tilt works the best and due to the light weight it didn't need wheels or mounted feet.  If you've looked at Reverse Helix Trommels before then you know they are one of the best methods available to get the gold but they are pricey.  Most of the known manufacturers want $2,400 to $4,000 for their 12" model.   System is located in Northern Colorado and pickup is highly encouraged.  However, I will ship this and with some disassembly I should be able to get this on a 48"x48" pallet or maybe a 60"x48" pallet.  Note: Will only ship with the lower 48 in the U.S. absolutely no foreign shipment on this item.  Most likely shipping for this will be $250 or higher depending on your location. Note: Buyer is responsible for any shipping costs.  Total with everything on a pallet should weigh less than 200 lbs and truck will need a liftgate for pickup.  For a freight quote I'd suggest: freightquote dot com
