Other types are less common. In cellular applications uplink / downlink duplexers are typically bandpass / bandpass, due to high isolation required between transmit and receive. Duplexer is used to enabled both paths share a common port. Case 2: Un-duplexing The RF system is already duplexed on to a common antenna port. For example your DUT is a commercial cellphone. You need to test receive without being compressed by the transmit on the same RF path. The RF paths can be simply separated by a duplexer. Case 2a: specific cellular test case By inserting a pair of duplexers between the UE / handset and LTE basestation, the RX and TX can be completely separated for test. This allows tweaking the propagation channel for DL / UL or both, receiver testing without interference from TX, or transmitter EVM measurements.
