I recently purchased a similar synthesizer on eBay for antenna range testing. I discovered that I could greatly improve on that design. So I did and now I am selling these on eBay for fifty dollars less than the one I purchased. THIS IS A QUALITY UNIT. I have sold more than 490 units with NO Returns and NO Negative feedback. Key Features: · Frequency Range is 35MHz to 4.4GHz · 50 ohm system · Frequency resolution is 1khz · RF Pulse Capability (EMC Immunity Testing) · PLL synthesized RF signal generator, controlled and powered by a PC running Windows via its USB port. · RF Step Function included Selectable time base per step and selectable step size. Steps start and stop frequency can loop or Single Step function Includes a "Single" step button. Single step forward or backwards · Improved performance and phase noise (Phase Noise measured at 10KHz offset at 2.4GHz was -88dBc/Hz) · 4 layer PCB versus 2 layers of similar models. This is a quality made product. · RF Output Standard SMA Connector: Select 4 Power levels. Maximum outputs are: 1. 35MHz - 4GHz = +15dBm +/- 2dB 2. 4GHz - 4.4GHz = +13dBm +/- 2dB · Note: This unit is not calibrated for RF output power. There are 4 power levels that are separated by about 3dB apart. The lowest power level is "0" and the RF output is +8dBm. Level "1" is +12dBm. Level "2" is about +14dBm and the highest level is level "3" at +16dBm to +18dBm. Please understand that I do sell a completely calibrated unit on eBay. That unit has 65dB of range from +10dBm to -55dBm and the RF power is accurately reported. If you set it to -20dBm you get -20dBm. If you set it to +10dBm you get +10dBm. Whatever power level you ask for you get (just like a real expensive signal generator). PLL Reference is a TCXO (Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator) at +/-1.5ppm over temperature · LED Indication for RF ON and Frequency Lock. Extra Features: 10 MHz External BNC Reference Input (Used to synchronize with other systems or to connect a very stable 10MHz reference). This port is seldom needed because the on-board internal reference is excellent. 10MHz Buffered BNC output (will drive a 50 ohm cable). This port is used to synchronize other systems and test measurements. DC coupled 0v to 3.3v BNC input allows for OOK transmission. You can apply a 0v to 3.3v (5.2v max) data stream and key the RF on/off. This can be useful for EMC Immunity Pre-qualification testing Extruded Aluminum Housing with metal end plates offers great protection from the elements and ESD events. The BNC connectors are new (no longer plastic) and are now completely metal. The Case is internally grounded to the PCB. I will support this product. This package includes a CD with drivers and an executable file that will install and run on a PC with Win-XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 (USB cable included). SOFTWARE: Multiple software options give you the full control and access to the TPI hardware features. LabView: The LabView module is on the CD and was my original software platform. You do not need to own LabView to use it. I am no longer upgrading this platform and I keep it only because some of you will want to integrate this into other Virtual Systems. It works great. SynthMachine: available for all versions of Windows from XP to 8, provides a versatile control panel enabling you to set the frequency and power for a constant output, and setup for frequency or power scanning using either a preset delay between steps or manual stepping. SynthMachine also enables you to select an external reference source, gives you control of most of the PLL parameters, and even lets you edit the calibration parameters. If you find a configuration you like, the parameters can be set as the default for the next time SynthMachine is launched. Just added is a simple scripting feature that allows you to write test sequences that can be saved. If you are interested in embedding the TPI board into your system, RFControl is available through a third party at additional cost. RFControl is an enhanced version of SynthMachine that includes a TCP/IP server interface. All of the control buttons and settings that are available from the front panel are available to your application through this interface. RFControl comes with RFShell, a small scripting client that can read commands from a file and send them to the TPI board. Python class source code, and Perl, c# and Tcl programming examples are provided to help you quickly integrate the TPI board into your system. You can also use the built-in VISA TCP/IP mode built into many products to send commands to RFControl. Please contact me for more information. SOFTWARE fun: A very slick Morse Code Module is also included. With the Morse Code, whatever you type into the window is sent in Morse code using OOK modulation. I have used it at 40 wpm. There is an additional "Beacon" mode that continuously sends a fixed message until you stop it. A third mode lets you use your mouse or any other key on the keyboard to send your own Morse Code.
