This machine and all of the accessories are clean enough on the inside and outside that you could eat your lunch off of them! Take a look at all of the photos and see if you agree. I have also used Ridgid 300 machines in the past. It is my personal opinion the Ridgid 535 machine is a far better overall machine than the Ridgid 300 or Ridgid 1822-I. I will tell you why. The Ridgid 535 front and rear bearings are much larger and stronger than a Ridgid 300. The Ridgid 535 machine is designed to be able to take more torque and stress. The 1822-I has front and rear chuck covers that are unfortunately made out of plastic! Every used Ridgid 1822-I I have ever seen has a broken front and/or rear chuck cover. Also the Ridgid 1822-I base housing is made out of fiberglass; whereas, the Ridgid 535 is made completely from aluminum and steel. There is absolutely no plastic on a Ridgid 535, except for the electrical parts. A Ridgid 535 machine is designed to be able to withstand a beating and keep running. This machine was completely torn down and every nut, bolt, and part has been completely inspected, measured for wear tolerances, cleaned, and greased if needed. I am a former Mercedes Benz auto repair technician and I used the same high quality control inspection standards inspecting this machine as we once used to inspect and rebuild Mercedes' engines and transmissions. After this machine was inspected and re-assembled, I tested this machine under a load threading 2 " pipe and it works perfectly as it should. Additional Inspection Notes: I inspected the front speed chuck, front jaws, and all of the bearings. The front speed chuck opens and closes very smoothly just like a well-made Swiss watch. There is absolutely no play or slop in the front speed chuck assembly. The front and rear bearings are also in excellent condition. I placed a precision dial caliber on the power shaft to measure the bearing and power shaft run out. The run out was less than .003". You cannot get much better on a new Mercedes! All of the gears inside and outside of the motor housing are sharp, and I did not find or see any wear or chipped teeth in any of the gears. The motor brushes were inspected and are in excellent condition. The power cord is also in excellent condition and has a molded factory original plug (OSHA compliant). The machine and all of the electrical components are properly grounded. I am very confident and excited about this threading machine!
