Offered is a Rockwell Delta Lathe Compound Slide Rest 46-965 or 46-961. It is in extremely NICE CONDITION. Mid 1970,s vintage,this one has seen only minimal use, has been kept well oiled and well taken care of. It is also complete and comes with the original correct tool post,an item I often see missing when these come up for sale. The handles are original,and the chrome is in great shape. Lead screws are straight and perfect,operates very smoothly. There is no damage,no cracks or repairs,no rust or corrosion. Any brown you see is simply a light oil stain that comes from having been kept well oiled over the years,and is easily removed. One would have a difficult time finding one nicer than this one. I've owned three of these over the years,this is by far the nicest one I've seen. I sold Rockwell Delta at the wholesale distribution level for over 20 years, I am more familiar with these than most,and I know someone will ask if this is for the 11 or 12 inch lathe. The answer is,this unit will work just fine on either an 11 or 12 inch machine,just as it is. The 11 and 12 inch unit were always exactly the same,the only difference was that if you ordered it for a 12 inch machine,Delta supplied a 1/2 inch thick spacer that could be fit under the base of the unit. Most owners quickly found that the spacer was not necessary, and even Delta eventually quit providing them The rocker tool post alone provides more than enough adjustment for the bit to be centered on either size machine,the spacer simply is not needed. This unit can also also be used with quick change style tool posts,and again the spacer is not needed. Can also be easily adapted to other brands of machines having flat ways and similar size swing, but bear in mind that the bearings and head stocks of some machines may not be heavy enough for heavy metal turning.
