One element of the (rarely displayed) second numeral from the left in the read-out is not illuminating.  The frequency being displayed in the picture is 100.50366.  When tested with a signal generator and compared with readings obtained from another digital frequency counter, this unit's readings are a close match.  A manual for Sabtronics 8000 series frequency counters can be found on line at http://www.vmarsmanuals.co.uk/archive/4022_Sabtronics_8000_series_frequency_counter.pdf. These units can operate off 4 C-cell batteries or an AC adapter (not included).  The AC adapter will power the unit with no batteries in it but, because it is also designed to re-charge the batteries, only NiCad batteries should be used if you will simultaneously plug in an AC adapter.  If you want to use non-rechargeable batteries, take them out before plugging an AC adapter in.  This unit is not being sold with any batteries. The short set of test leads shown in the picture is included but has not been tested.
