SAFE DEPOSIT BOX KEYS, MOSLER OEM, MATCHED-SET of TWO FACTORY-CUT KEYS. Original Mosler Factory-Cut Keys, Matched Set. The Keys Composition Is Non-Ferrous, Possibly Made of Nickel - Silver. FOR SALE: TWO, matched-set of factory-cut MOSLER, (original equipment manufacturer) safety deposit box keys. These are brand-new, OEM Mosler safe/safe deposit key blanks - NOT GENERICS. These keys came from the actual Mosler factory and have never been in active service. We acquired these keys as part of the 2001 Mosler liquidation / bankruptcy. LOCKSMITH'S BARGAIN: These keys are being sold at ONLY $8.50 a set. We acquired these keys as part of the Mosler bankruptcy and liquidation. They are factory-new, in great shape; however, they are an open box item (meaning they may be a little dusty, possibly light tarnishing, a couple of finger prints, etc). NOTE: Although we are not locksmiths, we have researched Mosler - - - and know that these OEM Mosler keys are a bargain at this price. You certainly won't be buying them from the Mosler plant! KEY SPECIFICATIONS: Each MOSLER key measures 0.055" thick by 2.18" long by 1.0" wide (0.39 wide across the keyway) and weighs approximately 0.25 ounce (7 grams). This listing is for TWO MOSLER OEM precut safe deposit box keys -and- a small, gold-colored ball chain. Your key cuts will vary from the photograph (as they are being sold as matched sets from Mosler). Mosler cut its safe deposit box keys in ahead of time -and- then "stacked the lock's wafers / plates" to match the key's cuts. It appears these keys worked locks with a stack of nine wafers / plates. NOTE: We included a 1901 Barber Dime in the photograph as a size reference. The dime is NOT included in the listing. We have an agreement with the eBay coin shops: We don't sell old dimes, they don't sell old keys. It seems to work best that way <grin>. ABOUT MOSLER: The Mosler Safe Company was a manufacturer of security equipment, most notably safes and bank vaults, beginning in 1867 and ending with its bankruptcy in 2001. Founded in Cincinnati by Gustave Mosler as the Mosler-Bahmann Safe Company, it outgrew its original factory and relocated to Hamilton in 1891, where it remained until its 2001 bankruptcy. Its safes and vaults were renowned for their strength and precision manufacture. Several Mosler vaults installed in Hiroshima's Mitsui Bank (building prior to WWII) survived the nuclear attack. Mosler subsequently produced doors for missile silos and even the vault formerly used to display and store the United States Constitution and Declaration of Independence. One example, installed at the Atomic Energy Commission's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, weighed approximately 138 tons including the frame. Despite the weight ("the largest and heaviest hinged shielding doors in the world"), each 58-ton blade could be opened and closed manually by one person. Mosler was controlled by its founding family until 1967, when they sold it to American Standard Companies. American Standard then sold the division to a group of Mosler managers and outside investors in 1986. In August 2011, after 134 years in business, Mosler declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy - - citing continuing debt problems and ceased operations shortly thereafter. Diebold subsequently announced programs to support former Mosler customers and ended up buying much of the former company in bankruptcy court a few months later. We have never "gouged" our buyers on postage or shipping -and- we have never charged a "handling fee." In fact, we usually "broke even" or lost a little money on shipping. Under eBay's new rules, if a seller's actual postage cost is $2.50, eBay now "dings" the seller a .28? (11%) "postage surcharge" resulting in another loss. Effective June 1, 2012, eBay terminated many seller's 20% "final value credit" because sellers were unable to meet eBay's shipping criteria of shipping within 24 hours (orders placed on Saturday afternoon couldn't possibly be shipped until at least Monday, etc.). Sellers counted on this small "refund" which added to the bottom line. As we could only guarantee 24-hour shipping 6-days a week, we lost this credit too. Inasmuch, WE DO NOT feel it's fair to pass eBay's surcharges along to our buyers - so we have simply removed the various discounts we previously offered our buyers. We sincerely apologize for this - - - however eBay left us with two choices: Increase your cost by passing along their surcharges or remove our discounts. We chose the latter. WARRANTY and/or RETURNS: This set of matched keys are an "open box item" meaning they may have some scratches, dirt, grim, finger prints, etc. Thus, these key blanks are subject to individual interpretation. We have made every effort to list the information and condition as accurately as possible: Thus, no warranty or returns on this item. INSURABLE?: eBay’s policy changed in 3rd Quarter 2009, (which previously allowed buyers the option of selecting and paying for coverage for their purchases). Thus, this item is not insurable. We don't make the policies, we simply have to try to keep up with them. Given the metal composition or the keys - coupled with our packaging techniques - the likelihood of breakage or damage in transit is minimal. SECURITY FEATURE: The photographs posted on eBay contain digital watermarks to reduce fraud. These watermarks are not on the actual item - only the photographs. In addition, the photos will contain an inventory number to assist in locating the exact item in the inventory.
