This is a vintage Schlage A51PD Tulip x 626 2-3/8' backset lock in the original box with ALL of its parts. My guess is it is mid 50's lock by the package. What all does this mean... Schlage is the inventor of this style of lock. They started in San Francisco in the 1920's and are a famous lock manufacture. A is the Series of lock. Now it is the mid grade between the cheapie line and their commercial line. In the day it was a residential, light commercial lock. 51 is the function, or how it operated. This lock is always available for egress (exiting or leaving). It has a push & turn button on the inside knob to lock & unlock outside knob. P means it has a Pin Tumbler (5 pin, not 6 pin) cylinder as compared to a Wafer key that they also made. D is a deadlatch vs a spring latch. This is the higher security latch used in keyed functions vs latching functions like a bedroom door. Tulip is the knob & rose design. Front is concaved and the knob tapers towards the door. 626 is the finish. It is also known as 26D which is a Satin Chrome vs a polished chrome. A very durable finish. 2-3/8" is the backset. Backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the 2-1/8" mounting hole. You can purchase a 2-3/4" deadlatch or with links added to the latch you can make 5" or other backsets. I am in the locksmith business and can answer any question or key the lock to your requirements. Please ask questions before you purchase. I do not take returns unless  I misrepresented the product.
