Schlage A53PD6 Plymouth x 626 2-3/8" deadlatch & T strike. What does this all mean? Schlage is the manufacture and the inventor of this style of lock in the 1920's in San Francisco. A = the Series of lock. This is a residential & light commercial use lock. 53 = Function, how it operates: The inside is always available for egress (exiting/leaving). The outside knob is controlled by the dual function button on the inside knob. You can push the button to lock the outside knob. Turning the inside knob or using the key from the outside unlocks the knob. If you push and turn button the lock is locked 24-7-365 until released. P= Pin tumbler cylinder. This is a 6 pin cylinder keyed to 5 pins. It is a C keyway. Note: Other cylinders will fit into this lock. So if you have a Kwikset, Falcon, Weiser, Sargent, Medeco, Assa, Multilock, Yale, Corbin, Russwin or any cylinder that is the same format size it will fit. D= Dead latching latch. The dead latch is the small half-moon piece laying alongside the large main latch. When the door is shut the latch falls into the strike plate (metal plate on the door frame) and the dead latch lies on the strike plate dead bolting the latch from retracting. This is to stop somebody from slipping something between the door and frame and pushing the latch back and opening the door. Plymouth= Is the shape of the knob. This is the most common knob style. It looks like a squished baseball. 626 = is the finish of the lock. This is Satin chrome. It is a VERY durable finish. Also stated as 26D.   2-3/8" backset. Backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the 2-1/8" mounting hole. This is what is standard in most commercial installations. Other backsets are available. 2-3/4", 3-3/4"& 5" are the most common. T strike. Is the standard small strike for a residential usage. These locks are NOS (New Old Stock) in their original boxes and complete with all screws and bits and pieces and instructions and template. I am in the locksmith business and can answer ANY question about this lock AND your installation. Please ask your questions before you purchase. It is not returnable unless I grossly misrepresented it. Dec2014: Current list price is $200.00-$220.00 I will combine shipping. (I hope it is working correctly) up to 4 locks will fit in a USPS MFRB. If there are issues just get hold of me and I will refund or adjust shipping as needed until I figure this all out...
