SCITEC MAP 4 XRF Spectrum Analyzer System Portable Recharger Software Case  For your consideration is a 1990’s era SCITEC brand Map-4 XRF spectrum analyzer with back lighted display, rechargeable NiCad batteries, battery charger, RS-232 port and download/print cable, download software, internal date and time clock, A Full Set of NIST Standards for Lead Based Paint ($700 from NIST) was purchased by me and included with this package.  These Standards can confirm any XRF unit is working within the accepted range of operation.  All will be shipped in an airline approved protective carrying case designed for this XRF unit.   The Map 4 XRF was one of only 7 units approved by HUD to perform lead inspections on HUD financed properties.  The Map 4 was also the fastest XRF for taking assays.  Only HUD approved units can be used to perform Lead Inspections on HUD properties.  This XRF unit is for assaying Lead in Paint & Soil only and is not a full spectrum unit. Also includes manuals and instructional literature, and other documentation. The XFR is in working condition and was resourced and serviced on regular intervals since new. I have owned this unit since new and it was properly cared for, I am retired and my inspection business is now closed. The last service date and resource of this XRF was dated 6/2013.  The radioactive source has since depleted and the XRF can no longer preform assays without resourcing the unit.   A new radioactive source lasts approximately two years, whether the XRF unit is used or not since the source naturally decays. If you choose to resource the unit you will have to locate a licensed company that can perform this operation. Additionally, one must become certified by the appropriate authorities to operate an XRF and perform Lead/Risk Assessments/Inspections.  Older units such as these are typically taken in trade for new XRF units   Trade in value if any would be established by the seller of the new unit, but companies like Niton typically offers a $5000 trade in value on their new XRF units.   Unit is sold as is and what you see in the photos is what you will receive as there are no returns offered.  Please ask any questions before bidding.
