1' of high quality and ultra safe self regulating heating cable. Perfect for School Science Projects or for a pet cage heater. This cable maintains a comfortable temperature that promotes plant growth or cold sensitive pet survival. It puts out about 8 watts per foot at about 50 deg. F and the heat output tapers off rapidly as it gets warmer. That is why it is considered self regulating thereby often making a thermostat unnecessary. All that is needed is to attach a 120 volt cord to one end and to insulate the other. If it is too long, it is easy to shear it back. Please understand that my photos show just the details of the construction. On the reel it came on is the following: “Dekoron 2708-11T Parallel Self Regulating Heater Patented (FM) 120V 8 W/Ft (26 W/M) @ 100 C CSA Type 3A, 3B, 3C, 5A, 5B UL Listed Haz. Loc. Max Temp 850 C Max Amps 32 Temp Code T5 Install Using Kits Listed on Package Label 0112-73815-1407018”. On the heating cable itself is the following label: "TINNED COPPER BRAID (CSA HAZ. LOC.) (CL. 1 DIV2, GR. B, C, D; CL II, DIV.2 GR. F, G: CL III DIV. 2) TEMP CODE T5" Please note that Dekoron no longer makes or sells this cable. They sold the business to Heat Trace Products LLC several years ago. If you look on the web, you will see that they still carry the 2700 series of heating cables. My cable has the tinned copper overbraid and a clear outer jacket as opposed to the dark colored jacket shown on the website photo. Self regulating heating cables are quite unique as compared to simple resistance heaters. As the temperature falls, the watts produced goes up to almost 10 watts/foot at freezing temperatures. At 1500 F, the cable produces only 1.5 watts/foot. Because it is self regulating it will never burn itself out even without a thermostat. This cable measures 0.220" thick and 0.510" wide (less than 1/4" thick and about `1/2" wide). ADDITIONAL INFO: Feel free to email me for original or additional pictures of item or with any questions.
