MODEL C78248 TRANSMITTER,  A.C. SYNCHRONOUS, 115 volts 60 Hz DEIL MFG. Co. Elizabethport, NJ, USA I purchased these synchro motors at a surplus store in Southern California approximately 45 years ago.  I carried them in my junk box all that time intending to use them as part of an antenna rotator for a ham rig or as a panning platform for a security camera, but never got around to doing it.  I have two units of the same model. They are used to transmit angular information through three stator windings and two rotor windings to a receiver or a servo amplifier system to rotate a shaft to the same angle.  They operate in a full 360 degrees of rotation.  They were used in the military to aim weapons or control rudders or diving planes on ships and submarines. Electrical hobbyists will find them interesting and challenging.  They are sold as is.

Seller Notes “Gears have been damaged; some teeth are missing and the phenolic gear material has been drilled through. One has epoxy putty on its gear. Electrically and mechanically they are sound, except as noted. These motors are military surplus from 1970s era. They are sold AS-IS.”
