In the past diamond products came 3 ways - metal bonded, resin bonded or electroplated. Of these the fastest was always electroplated since they have 100% diamond exposure. The problem with the electroplated is that it is adhered with pure nichol and an electrical charge - virtually "painted" on to the product using electricity. Since nichol is a low grade metal you can only use very small piece of diamond, or they will fall off of the tool. if you use any other metal besides nichol the melting point is too high and will damage the diamonds up to the point of turning them back to carbon (remember that the diamond used on these products is synthetic diamond, not natural diamond).
