Shell Naturelle HF-E are hydraulic fluids, which cannot be mixed with water and which are rapidly biodegradable. The high performance level of the Shell Naturelle HF-E series is achieved by the utilisation of synthetic esters as base fluid and the perfectly matching additives. These synthetic base fluids provide the Shell Naturelle HF-E with excellent viscosity-temperature characteristics, which is the reason why these products have a multigrade character. Shell Naturelle HF-E can be mixed with hydraulic oils on a mineral oil basis in any ratio and they are compatible with them. In order, however, to assure the biodegradability and to avoid any filtrability or foaming problems when making a product changeover, the system has to be completely emptied, resp., flushed out, so that the remaining residual oil content does not exceed 2%. Further information concerning the procedure of changing the type of oil in an installation can be obtained from the “Remarks concerning the changeover from mineral oils to HEES (synthetic esters)” or, e.g., from the VDMA - Guideline 24 569.
