Addressable Ionization Type Smoke Detector SD505-AIS This a used smoke detector. It was removed from a Silent Knight duct detector housing. If you have any question please sent me a message. Silent Knight is no longer making these smoke detectors. This smoke detector was installed and is in good condition. It was in duct detector for less than a month. The job spec. for photo electric smoke detector and I bought the SK duct detector with Ion. I purchased this unit about 4 years ago. The SD505-AIS has responsive, yet high operational stabilityfor an extremely wide range of uses. The SD505-AIS can be used in areas whereearly warning of trouble from super-heated or flaming combustibles is expected. The detector features automatic compensation forcontamination, and simple detector calibration can be viewed from the panel, orremotely (using the Windows® based downloading software). Operation The SD505-AIS ionization smoke detector has two chambers: asampling chamber, and a reference chamber. Smoke or invisible combustion gasescan freely penetrate the sampling chamber, but the reference chamber isvirtually closed to prevent easy entry. With both chambers ionized by a single radioactivesource, a very small current flows. Presence of visible smoke or invisiblegases greatly influences the current flow in the sampling chamber, changing thevoltage ratio between the two chambers. This difference is amplified inside the detector. After reaching thecritical level, the detector triggers into alarm. The SD505-AIS includes a status LED which blinksapproximately every 15 seconds, indicating that the head is communicating withthe loop. The status LED lights continuously during an alarm.
