Smilin'Jack is a variable-hinge, constant pressure squeegee blade. The patented hinge technology was engineered to eliminate many of the costly problems encountered during printing. There are only 3 conditions with regard to ink when printing; too much, not enough or the proper amount. When you don't transfer enough ink you get flaws such as pin holes, mesh marks, streaks, skipping, etc. When you transfer too much ink you get flaws such as dot gain, central pilling, edge gain, etc. Smilin'Jack deposits the correct amount of ink eliminating such flaws. In addition Smilin'Jack's design reduces or eliminates mesh fatigue or popping. The result is reduced set up time, increased production speed and reduced rejection rates. What Makes Smilin'Jack different? Smilin'Jack applies constant pressure at all points (from the center-to-the-edge and from the beginning-to-the-end of the stroke) to both the mesh and the stock. Tradition squeegees can’t achieve constant pressure. Soft blades buckle immediately causing excess gain and limiting print speed. Hard blades pin the mesh at the edges causing piling in the center and excess gain at the ends. Multiple durometer blades will fail within the constraints imposed by hard and soft blades. Only patented variable-hinge technology can deliver the constant pressure that eliminates these costly problems. A smile-shaped channel is cut into one side of the blade. Its depth, smile radius and distance from the printing edge are engineered with computer controlled proprietary algorithms based on the specific application. The “smile” allows the squeegee to develop pressure first between the center of the blade and the mesh, then builds pressure consistently towards both ends. The ends flare parallel to the screen mesh which keeps it from buckling. The flared ends create a minimum printing edge and constant pressure. When buckling occurs with an old-fashion blade, the ink is transferred too early causing dot gain, piling and blurring.  A Word About Cost... Smilin'Jack is sold by the inch. If you compare your current squeegee price-per-inch with the price-per-inch of Smilin'Jack, you will think it's the most expensive squeegee you've ever purchased. BUT THAT WOULD NOT BE TRUE! It is the cheapest blade per-print available. While we can cost justify the blade with mesh and ink saving, increased production and reduced scrap rates, the surprising fact is many of our customers are now spending less on Smilin'Jack than they did on an old-fashion blade! Yes, you read that right. Smilin'Jack lasts so long you will likely save money on your blade expense before you consider any of the cost-cutting benefits of printing with it.
