 Has a very cleverly designed lid, so meter sits at slight angle for enhanced viewing, or it can be used flat with out the lid. This meter is especially handy for finding parasitic drains (those that occur with key off) by use of the MT500A-20 amp meter shunt (originally an option from Snap On Tools that was not included in this set) that is included with this meter. Also, when using the shunt, testing for starter amperage tests, charging system testing as well. Performs dwell testing & setting, even on those 5 cylinder engines, voltage function for computer output to sensors, voltage drop, DC voltage checking. Tachometer function for adjusting fuel-air mixture, at idle and running speeds, as well as checking factory tachometers for accuracy, and setting new aftermarket add-on tachs. Manual and 9 volt battery is not included but can be found on line or purchased by itself on eBay and such sites. This one does have light staining from greasy hands and previous use and because of my indoor lighting it appears "a brighter red" in my photos than it actually is in real light. Shunt stores well in the upper lid storage area, long test leads in right hand side compartment. Not suitable for AC volt systems, such as household wiring.
