This battery operated digital counter can be used with any sock knitting machine.  Instructions are included on how to set it up easily.  It can be mounted to a stand which would enable using an additional machine when placed in the same position on the stand.  Operation is very simple: one button turns it on and off and one button returns the count to 0.  A magnet completes the circuit by being placed at the neck of the crank handle as shown.  The wand portion (yellow) is placed conveniently where the crank will pass within 3/4".  This can be the side of the table or a leg of the stand for example.  The case or face portion can be mounted to the tabletop or to the mast of the yarn carrier.  It will remain in place easily using duck tape if you do not want to mount it permanently.  This counter is extremely easy to use and is more reliable than the ones we once had that belonged in exercise machines.  (It does not lose count when used briskly like those did.)  I mount a counter to my ball winder as well as my sock machine and find it very convenient for determining whether I have wound enough yarn to complete a sock or pair.  I also use counters on my weaving looms when warping a sectional beam.  They are extremely handy.
