SONLOK® RETAINING COMPOUND Handy 10 ml (about 1/3 oz) bottle Controlled Strength for loose-fitting parts Comparable to YELLOW Loctite® 641™ SONLOK® RETAINING COMPOUND is a high-performance anaerobic adhesive which cures when in close contact with metal in the absence of air. It is specifically designed to secure metal parts to prevent loosening, leakage, and corrosion. SONLOK® retaining compound is methacrylate based. This is a "thixotropic" fluid, basically meaning that it is viscous and must be vigorously shaken before use. (It also means that it doesn't migrate after application). Yellow #3641 provides controlled strength for relatively close-fitting parts that require dissasembly, and provides temperature resistance (to 300 F). It is medium viscosity and has a shear strength of 1800 PSI (steel to steel). Slow dry - allow 20-30 minutes to activate, 24 hours for full cure. Color Code Yellow.
