It is highly recommended: All test equipment especially Vintage Tektronix equipment should have their power supplies checked in accordance with its Owner's or Service Manual. Clean all switches and potentiometers in accordance with the service manual. Electrolytic capacitors fail, especially those of the Tantalum composition/variety. Replace all tantalum variety electrolytic capacitors with their indicated values in the service manual. Smaller electrolytic capacitors should be replaced with their equivalent in the service manual paying close attention to working voltage and capacity. The larger value capacitors, for example the filtering capacitors in Tektronix TM 500 mainframes, need to be checked for higher than normal ESR vs. the corresponding data sheet's indicated values and filtering capacity under load (ripple voltage/current) against the corresponding data sheet or service manuals.
