Service checklist includes proper fitting of lid, chip repairs, protective coatings, and polishing before balancing is done. Original Certificate of Balance is included with the rotor. Carbon fiber rotors are many times stronger than steel. They will not warp, bend, or deform during operation. The only way carbon fiber rotors become imbalanced is if physical material is removed like chips, scrapes, and gouges from mishandling. This rotor has been polished for best aerodynamic performance but it makes it able to easily slip out of your hands as well so care must be taken when handling it. This rotor has been calibrated to a tighter spec of G2.5 @ 8,500 RPM to keep vibrations to a minimum however, full inspection and calibration of the centrifuge is recommended by the manufacturer before it is put into use. Calibration of the load balance sensor should be done at least once per year. A positive offset of the load balance sensor will narrow the operational window resulting in nuisance faults during high speed operation. A negative offset will widen the window and could cause excessive wear on the spindle or damage the rotor if improperly loaded. Proper loading and balancing of samples are also critical when using this rotor at high speeds. All sample canisters must be the same brand, type, and placed symmetrical (lids in same direction) into the rotor before use. Avoid cheap Chinese canisters because some are found to deform or even fail during operation causing machine damage in some cases. This lot also includes a spindle assembly. The spindle assembly is the most fragile part of any centrifuge. If the spindle assembly is worn, bent, or damaged in any way, machine imbalance errors will result in most cases. If a rotor slips out of your hands and drops on to the spindle, it can be bent or the bearings could be compromised resulting in machine errors or even catastrophic failure in extreme cases. The spindle assembly should be inspected for damage or ware at least once a year or after so many cycles of use determined by the manufacturer. The smallest defect in the spindle assembly can greatly degrade the performance of your centrifuge especially when using larger rotors. Like the seconds hand on a clock, the bigger the clock, the further the seconds hand will move on each click at its farthest point. A worn bearing track inside the spindle bearing housing will result in increased resonant vibrations that will cause intermittent errors due to slightly offsetting the balance of the rotor. It is required that only a certified technician from the manufacturer replace the spindle assembly due to proprietary critical calibration procedures involved.
