US $1100

Up for auction is a an all original Ice Cream/Soda Fountain Back Bar.  We pulled this backbar from it's original location in an Old Drug Store here in Kansas. It has been in this same old downtown location since the early 1900's. The Daughter of the original drugstore owner believes the date the back bar first appeared in the drugstore was around 1914-1917? Now being late 80's year old, she remembers also Mr. Hank Williams Sr. eating ice cream at this backbar during his tours through Southeast Kansas as the old dance hall upstairs was a frequented stop for Hank playing music.  Just an interesting story!  Anyway this backbar is all original from the finish, milk glass doors, marble top to the mirror and Ice cream advertising signs which were resting  a top the backbar before we removed the backbar.  Interesting enough the drugstore closed in the 60's and was converted to a Hardware Store as it remains today. The Back bar was a resting place for fabrics and cloths that was sold there which is why I believe remained in such amazing condition for almost 100ys now.   This backbar was built by the Specialty Fountain Co. Grand Haven, Mich.  The Original badge on the front depicts this ( see photo).  There are no cracks in the original marble top which is an 1 1/4" thick, no cracks in the Original Milk Glass. No cracks in the orig. mirror or the beautiful Lead stained glass.  The Advertisements on top go with this backbar as I believe these Ice Cream Co. to be out of Wichita,KS. They are Copyrighted 29' (see photos)  All in excellent condition for there age.  I'm keeping them with the backbar for that is how we found them.  This is such a Beautiful, All Original Backbar and I've searched the net and have yet to see another, that hasn't been restored!  I've decided to sell it in it's original (time capsule) condition and let the new owner decide what they wish to do with it.  Sometimes when an antique such as this is altered from it's original condition it can hurt not only it's resale value but it's esthetic value as well. For this is my experience  with Old Cars and firearms which are my first loves!   The overall Height of the backbar is 10' tall, 8'.5" wide and 16" deep.   We moved it by taking off the Marble top and removing the Large mirror then separated the top from the base. Winning bidder will need to pick up or arrange for a shipping co. to have it hauled.  This would make a excellent piece to use as a Ice Cream Parlor or Soda Fountain shop or use it as your own personal bar. This Backbar is a unmolested piece of American history. The days of finding a piece like this are virtually unheard of now days! I hope it goes to a good home. If I had room for it I'd consider keeping it, however I have a 67 Gto that needs restored!  This back bar deserves a good home.  I'm sure I've forgotten something so please email me with any questions or call.  My number is 620 437 7561.  Good Luck bidding!!
