Specimens from the De Montfort Press Vol. VII. Leicester: The Du Montfort Press, 1894. 4to, original floral print flexible cloth boards. 50 leaves printed on one side only.  The seventh specimen book issued by this British letterpress operator, described as follows by the publishers in their prefatory statement: "Process Engraving and Chromotypography are daily becoming more extended in their application, and several fine specimens exhibiting recent developments will be found herein" - and indeed they are. Of the book's fifty plates forty-five are printed in color and all feature graphics of one sort or another. Chromolithographed plates reproduce everything from the title page of the British edition of the International Printers' Exchange to advertisements for presses and other printing equipment. Examples of the firm's work abound. Color leaps off seemingly every page, a most attractive specimen book.  Fair, spine sunned, front end paper detached, rear end paper lacking, boards rubbed, contents clean.  Additional photos happily supplied upon request and all inquires promptly answered.  See my other listings for a broad selection of books, paper, art, etc.
