It is a double slit, that is, the slits are oriented at 90 degrees to each other. The aperture, whatever it is selected to be, remains centered. Each blade is on its own spring loaded linear ball slide and the cones that set the separation of the edges are driven by Oriel motor-mikes. The system is used, untested. As this component came from an astronomer we make the assumption that it was used in a spectrophotometer. The clear forward aperture is about 7mm.
