Spell Right, Vintage Manual Flip Open Spelling Aid Device, Metal, Japan This is a vintage manual "flip open" spelling device, probably from the 1950's or 60's. Just move the metal tab on the right to the desired starting letter, then press the open tab at the bottom. The Spell Right opens to the page showing words beginning with that letter, which are displayed in alphabetic order. There is a "Memo" section at the end with two blank pages. This Spell Right is made of metal and painted a two tone brown. The cards inside are made of cardboard. The tab mechanism on the right works just fine. There are a few scratches here and there in the paint, but overall, this device is in very good shape and working order for its age. There are four rubber feet on the bottom and the word "Japan" is shown in tiny letters on a metal tab on the bottom. There are no other marks of identification. The Spell Right measures about 7-1/2" x 3-15/16". This is a terrific piece of nostalgia and an interesting remnant of business or academic history. If you have any questions, please contact me.
