Each sale is for one new StacoSwitch M778MSLN3 rugged keyboard assembly. This is not a finished keyboard. There is no back or cable/jack. Instead, the assembly is designed to be mounted through an opening in an operator panel. Features built-in joystick mouse emulation and dimmable EL backlight. These are super high quality. I'll bet they cost the original (government?) customer close to $200 each. These measure approximately 11" x 6" x 1". That makes them about the same size as a standard keyboard minus the usual cursor keys and numeric keypad. The easiest way to make these work with a PC is to purchase a cheap 'PS/2 keyboard+mouse to USB adapter' here on eBay. I saw several with BIN of $0.99. Cut off the PS/2 connectors and solder the wires to the pads on the assembly. You'll also need either a USB extension cable or splice in a longer cable on the PS/2 side. The keyboard and mouse were immediately recognized under Windows XP. You're not going to need any special drivers. If you still own a PC old enough to include PS/2 jacks, you could cut the cords off an old keyboard and/or mouse and solder to the assembly. If you want to interface to your own microcontroller, you can just run generic cable/wires. The mouse and keyboard are actually 2 separate isolated circuits. There's also an alternate connection via 1mm-pitch flexible ribbon socket. The embedded Atmel microcontrollers are FLASH-based, but I don't see any provision for in-circuit (re)programming.
