The tip is clean and smooth. knurling is good. The leg is clean. The thumb level is eccentric to make fine adjustments, Travel is approx: 1/8" (see pics) Diameter of leg is: .293" (See pic) Length: 9.5" long Leg can be seen in Starrett's 50th anniversary (1930) catalog, page 279 for model #51 Please use the pictures as the best description.
