Here is a very nice set of precision tools, a Starrett No. 657A magnetic base and a Federal No. B5M-C dial indicator that reads into the .0005". This indicator has been used and probably abused over the years but it is works like it should. The dials spins easily and the numbers are still readable although the lens has some scuffs and scratches. There is some paint that has chipped off and a ding or two, but this indicator moves easily, no hesitations, smooth, and always returns to "0". The magnetic base turns "on" and "off" easily and "sticks" solidly to any flat steel surface. There are a few imperfections on it, including a few dents, scratches, a ding or two, and someone put the numbers 078 on the top of it. Please don't let these imperfections take away from what is otherwise a very nice working set of precision tools. Also included is a jointed rod that works great for maneuvering around things to set your indicator up and two different snugs that hold it all together. This American made magnetic base and indicator are ready to go back to work and would make a great addition to any precision toolbox.
