Only used a handful of times. Great condition. You wont find it cheaper anywhere else. Sorry for bad quality pictures. The Starrett SR100 surface roughness tester is a portable, handheld device with contact operation used to measure surface roughness, and has a control unit, a traverse unit, automatic calibration, a calibration standard, a diamond stylus, and an LCD screen that displays roughness average (Ra), average peak to valley height (Rz), maximum profile valley depth (Rv), maximum profile peak height (Rp), and total height of profile (Rt) measurements. The control unit and traverse unit can be used connected or remote from each other. The units communicate with an infra-red (IrDA) link for cable-free operation up to a distance of 40"/1m. Measurement results are saved in the control unit until the next measurement is taken. There is a five second cycle time between measurements. A mode button switches the tester between inch and metric readout. The tester also displays error codes as needed, such as when the unit needs calibrating. The tester range is 8000?in/200?m and the resolution is 2?in/0.05?m. The display resolution is 0.4?in/0.01?m for roughness average (Ra) and 1?in/0.1?m for Rz, Rt, Rp, and maximum profile valley depth (Rv). The traverse unit has a diamond stylus with a radius of 123?in /5?m nominal, a 90 degree tip angle, and a skid radius of 0.394"/10mm nominal. The stylus has a force of 1gf/10mN maximum at mid-range. The tracer tip has a radius of 200?in. The traverse length is 0.2"/5mm with a measurement length of 0.16"/4mm. The tracing speed is 0.08"/2mm per second. The filter used is a 2CR filter. The cut-off is 0.03"/0.8mm + or – 15%. The sample spacing is 0.025?in/1?m. The control unit uses one 3V CR 2450 battery, and an automatic shut-off feature turns off the display after five minutes of inactivity to extend battery life. The traverse unit uses three 3V CR 2450 batteries for a minimum life of 5,000 measurements, and an automatic shut-off feature powers down the unit after five minutes of inactivity to extend battery life. An indicator light alerts when battery power is low. Batteries are included. The tester measures 4.92 x 3.15 x 1.5 inches/125 x 80 x 38mm (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) The operating temperature is 50 to 95 degrees F/10 to 35 degrees C with 80% maximum non-condensing relative humidity. The tester weighs 7oz./200g. It comes with calibration standard, instructions, batteries, and a vinyl case.
