Starrett/Webber Digi-Chek II 625mm Height Gauge   For sale- a Starrett Webber Gage Division Digi-Chek II Height Gauge.  Most similar models I have seen listed are the DHG 25, but this is the Metric version 625mm.  It is in excellent physical condition EXCEPT that the cover on the back that protects the Heidenhain device (pictured) is missing one of the two screws and is banged up just a little bit.  Otherwise the instrument, manufactured in 2005, could basically pass for new.  Powers up as you can and appears to respond appropriately to the column being raised.  Otherwise untested, sold as is, and NO warranty is offered.   However, IF you pay the asking price and find it has a problem you cannot live with within 14 days of receipt you may return it.  Returns are ONLY allowed on Buy It Now Purchases.  Accepted Best Offers are strictly an as is sale, no returns allowed.  Return would be for a refund of the purchase price, not including shipping costs, which will be substantial.   Just so that we are clear on that, this is an item that has not been thoroughly tested.  As such it may work fine or it may have problems, so any purchase entails a certain degree of risk.  If you Buy It Now your risk is limited to the shipping costs both ways.  If you submit an offer you do so knowing that you cannot return it.  In either case it is up to you to decide whether the risk level is acceptable to you, and if not you need to pass on this particular item.   Includes only the two pieces pictured, if accessory items are required for use you will have to source those elsewhere.  I think it would be wise to assume this will need calibration by the time it gets to you.  Please check out my other listings for more interesting lab, test, and optical equipment.  Check back often!   Sold as is, as described, as pictured.  Potential buyers are asked to please make sure you have read the listing carefully, and understand what you are buying.  Ebay’s condition codes for used items, which I am now required to select from, might imply a degree of functionality that my limited time, knowledge, and facilities do not allow me to ascertain.  If the functional condition of the item is known it will be stated as such in the listing.  Unless a warranty is specifically offered returns are not accepted regardless of any implied functionality.   You are also encouraged to visit my “ME” page, where my terms, conditions, and philosophy of doing business are outlined.  I don’t think anything there is outside the bounds of normal e-commerce, but they are binding on the transaction.   Payment is expected within 7 days of the close of the sale and I need to hear from you within 3 days to confirm the transaction.  The gauge itself weighs 87 pounds, the digital readout (which looks like it is actually a Heidenhain product, a VRZ 403?) adds another 8 pounds.  So you are talking 95 pounds before adding any packaging.  I’m not sure I have ever run across a piece that will be any more difficult to pack.  On the one hand it doesn’t look all that breakable, but because of the shape and size and density it will require an extreme packaging effort to get it to you in one piece.  And I am guessing the thing may be made of cast iron which is brittle, and based on that I think my preference would be to box it and strap it to a pallet and ship it freight.  Which would be a bit more expensive going to a business than fedex, but better than having it all banged up when it gets there.  Freight to a business with a loading dock or forklift or several guys capable of offloading something this heavy is going to run between $100 and $200 to the east and west coast respectively, with lift gate service if necessary adding $45 and residential delivery adding another $45.  I will be happy to provide a shipping quote on request but please include your zip code and whether it is a business or a residence.   Alternatively I can ship it to a business charged to your Fedex account; fedex home does not take packages over 70 pounds.  I will under NO circumstances ship it UPS, the people there don’t seem to be smart enough to handle a shipment charged to the recipients account, nor do they appear to be smart enough to correct their mistake after the fact.   PLEASE NOTE: the government agency that sent this to surplus has deemed it to be export controlled, so not only will I NOT ship it internationally, if you are buying it to refurbish and resell you would need to find a domestic US buyer for it only.  I will need a written confirmation that you understand it is not for export (no matter how ridiculous that might seem) before I can ship it.
