Undertube Sunshine Recorder ( English info in package) Also called Joe Tang style Sunshine Recorder, It is a very good educational instrument for chirdren . 1. Use Type FJ-1 cylinder sunshine meter can be used to observe the beginning time or the ending time of sunshine, and also can be used to count up duration of sunshine. 2.Structure and Principle The meter is made up of metallic columnar canister, light-insulation board,latitude gauge and stand. The canister's one end is hermetic, while the other end is covered with a round lid, On the two sides of the canister's body, there are two little conoid holes to let light in, and the two holes' plsition are stagger front and back. The light-insulation board is set on the upper side of the canister, so that antemerician sunlight or afernoon sunlight can enter into the holes separately. Inside the canister, there is an elastic metal paper clamp with which recording paper can be fixed. Passing through the holes of the meter, sunlight will make sensitive mark on recording paper which is coated with sensitizer on it. after the recording paper which has been irradiated is rinsed with water, the beginning time or the ending time of sunshine can be observed, and duration of sunshine can be counted up too. 3. Main Technical Indes Sunshine recording time : from 5:00 am to 19.00 pm Urilization range for latiude : from 0°to 60° Precision : In true solar time, the error between clock time and sunshine recording time will not exceed 3 minutes. 4. Installation and Usage 1) . The meter should be installed in open place where sunlight can shine onto it from sunrise to sundown all around the year. Usually it is put in observation station or on platform. While installation, the stand should be kept level, taking it as the standard that the leveling bubble of the spirit level is in the middle. 2) . While installation,let the canister’s mouth aim at north by the meridian line mark on the stand, and fix the stand. Then, turn the canister body to make the angle indicated by the latitude gauge on the stand be same as the latitude of observation place,an fix screw cap to make it hard up. 3) . Check up the meter: load recording paper,and the two hole’s position should be at the line marked “8:00” and the line marked “18:00” on the paper,In true solar time, sunlight from the two holes at noon should be set at the line marked :12:00” on the paper. 4) . While loading recording paper,please roll the paper to be cylindraceous and insert it into the canister, making hte line marked “10:00” ont the paper join with the white line on the canister’s mouth, the line marked “14:00”on the paper join with thewhite line on the canister’s bottom,and the two holes on the paper aim at the two holes on the canister,then,fix hte elastic metal paper clamp with its open mouth toward upside. 5) . Sensitizer’s quality will affect sunshine recording precision directly. So, you must pay attention specially to sensitizer’s storage, compounding and its coat.Sensitive liquid should be compounded by the following method: A. Put red prussiate of potash 5g into clear water 50g, load the solution into a bottle and put it in a dard place for following use. B. Put ammonium citrate 15g into clear water 50g,load the solution into another fuscous bottle and put it in a dark place for following use. When recording paper needs coating,please take the two above solution with equal quantity,and combine them together . Then you can coat it on recording paper. Do not combine all the two solution at one time, or they will become invalid afer long-period storage. 6). Needle or sharp-pointed things are forbidden to be used to drill the holes in case the holes’eyelets will become large. The screws on both sides can’t be loosened arbitrarily to prevent sunlight’s entrance position being changed. If there is dust on the meter, soft brush can be used to wipe them.
