SURVEY PENTAX AFL-280 WITH CASE EXCELLENT CONDITION Product Description: Pentax 28 x Automatic Level with Auto Focus +/- 1.5mm The automatic level, standard survey instrument used to measure the difference in height of two points, has undergone a revolution. Auto focusing is the first real advance in automatic level technology since the automatic level was invented more than 45 years ago. Point the AFL at a staff, press the button and almost instantly you are ready to take reading. Auto focusing is more consistently precise and takes less time than manual operation. Operation eye fatigue is reduced while at the same time efficiency is increased which results in higher productivity. Focusing like an auto focus camera:Our unique auto focus technology is incorporated into the AFL(Auto Focus Level) series. Troublesome focusing now becomes automatic with the simple press of one button the only requirement. Time is saved and operator fatigue is reduced for greater efficiency. AF/MF Dial:The AF/MF dial selects auto focus(AF) or manual focus(MF). This enables manual focusing for those special situations where auto focus is not appropriate. Water Proof Telescope:The telescope is waterproof to JIS 6 specifications (complete block, from any direction, of water entrance). Nitrogen gas is injected into the completely sealed objective lens assembly. In rain or high humidity, the telescope will remain clear and work can easily continue. High Precision Automatic Compensator:The automatic compensator has our well-reputed wire-suspension with special alloy ribbons for accuracy. Even during vibration, the compensator is stable and reliable. Principle of AFL280:The AF system of the AFL employs a high-performance phase-matching system. In this system, the light coming through the objective lens is first focused, then divided into two image-forming rays and finally projected onto the CCD (Charge Coupled Device) image-sensor arrays. When the subject is in focus, these two projected rays fall on the same relative positions of the sensor arrays. However, if it is out-of-focus, the rays fall on different positions of the arrays, creating a phase difference between these two projected images. The CPU (Central Processing Unit) translates it into the amount of lens movement required to move the focus lens into the In-focus position. It then sends a signal to the drive motor for mechanical operation.
