"THE ODOMETER"  POSTCARD copied from "HOW TIS DONE by Bates Harrington - 1879"  Black and White Postcard, measuring  3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches .  In good condition.  Pictures a surveyor pushing an odometer along a road, with a theodolite over his shoulder (see scan). The illustration was intended to show how surveyors/mapmakers in the 1870's were taking measurements used  to produce maps for town and county maps and atlases.
