It is split through the flange and taper to provide strong clamping on the shaft. The bushing is made of cast iron for resistance to wear, galling, and corrosion. It is keyed to the shaft to prevent the shaft from rotating in the bushing, and it has a set screw over the keyway to help keep the key in place on vertical shafts and with vibrating loads. This quick disconnect bushing is used in automobiles, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, and home appliances, among others.
