The War Department published this book in 1940as an instructional guide for soldiers and officers. It explains the operation and function of Lathes that one might encounter.  It was designed as a general manual for machinists to be able to explain variations in lathe design and how to operate the different machines, it does not appear to favor any specific brand of type of lathe, it covers all aspects of lathe operation, maintenance and application.  Basic lathe design and lathe operation is similar throughout the industry from the diminutive Unimat hobby lathes to the huge lathes used in industry and shipyards. They all work in the same manner and accomplish similar tasks.  This book also has lots of information of lathe theory, tool design and tool forms as well as special setups and operations.  It is certainly the "OLD SCHOOL" practice which has been taught to machinists for well over two centuries. Well illustrated, 94 pages, all in PDF Format, high resolution scans, you can view with any current PDF reader program or print on most ink jet or laser printers. (you will receive a CD-ROM, it does not "play" because it is NOT a DVD  or a movie, this is an electronic copy of a book)  We ship First Class Mail, Domestic  at no cost,  International shipping is $4.50 to most countries.    Check out my other items!        Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
