FLAME LICKER ENGINE KIT Last kit remaining for now....(see NOTE below) Model Engine Construction Kit also known as "Mystery Engine Breathes Flame" from the February 1950 issue of Popular Science Magazine This simple engine is also known as a Flame Gulper, Flame Eater, or Vacuum Engine Kit includes 4-each Cast Iron Castings, plus a complete set of Drawings and Valve Spring  (see complete list below)  The builder will need to purchase bar-stock materials and fasteners to complete the engine. A metal lathe and a milling machine are needed to machine these castings as well as other parts made from brass and steel. The resulting engine is a working piece of art and a joy to watch as it makes a delightful pop-pop sound so characteristic of vacuum engines. This Flame Licker Engine originally appeared in Popular Science Magazine in February 1950 in an article titled "Mystery Engine Breathes Flame".  Castings were made available by its designer, Floyd McGuckin.  Later the kits were offered by Paul Breisch, by Jay Peters, and finally by Crescent Steam.  This particular model has been off the market for about 8 years.  Littlelocos Model Engineering will be offering it again sometime in the future once we reformat the drawing set and complete some work needed on the original patterns. NOTE:  As of May 16th, we are down to our last, original kit.  It will likely be 4 to 6 months or more before we have any others in stock. NOTE:  For a nice video of one of these engines running, search McGuckin Flame Licker on You Tube.  The engine shown was constructed from this kit back in the 1960's and is well worth the look.  Enjoy!
