Forma Scientific Model 1849 Clean Bench For sale- a Forma Scientific Model 1849 Clean Bench, I believe also referred to as a Laminar Flow Hood. It wasn’t hard to find a pdf brochure on the 1800 series here on the Thermo website, obviously at some point Thermo must have acquired Forma as they have so many other companies. So I have used Thermo in the title for search purposes, but this piece appears to predate the acquisition. The “4” in 1849 denotes this is the 4 foot version of the unit, the work area is a bit less than 4’, the overall dimension a bit more. I would consider the unit to be in good/used condition. There is one place where the outer lip if you will on the right side is bent, but could no doubt easily be straightened. The stainless bench top has a fair amount of scratches as pictured, but I would guess that perhaps that could be buffed or polished out at least somewhat. The only other issue noted was the strain relief for the AC cord where it enters the hood is missing. But as you can see it powers up and the fan works. That is the extent of my testing and NO warranty is offered. I have no way of knowing the condition of the pre-filter or the HEPA filter. Maybe you can get some use out of them, maybe they need to be replaced. The sale includes the optional base which is not shown in the first picture because it was removed for transport. Turns out Thermo offers a 30 and a 36 inch high base, and I didn’t measure this one. Will update when I can put a tape to it. If you don’t need or want the base it would trim something off the freight estimates. Please check out my other listings for more interesting lab, test, and optical equipment. Check back often! Maybe by then I will have a better picture of the thing posted. Sold as is, as described, as pictured. I don’t think anything there is outside the bounds of normal e-commerce, but they are binding on the transaction. Shipping will be motor freight on a pallet unless you would like to come pick it up. I would estimate the shipping weight at around 500 pounds. I would estimate the freight cost for that at between $300 and $600 to the east and west coast respectively. That is the expected range, NOT a firm quote! And it presumes you want the stand AND that the stand comes apart. If it doesn’t come apart (but I assume that it will) that will dramatically increase the shipping cost. Residential deliveries, deliveries that require liftgates, deliveries to the boonies, and deliveries to schools or universities will all be more because it takes longer for the carrier to get the job done. Shipping will be via Old Dominion Freight Lines, which has done a consistently good job getting my shipments where they are going without roughing them up. I will be happy to quote you for the shipment, but I need to know the zip code, residential or commercial, and whether a lift gate will be required. If you would prefer to use another carrier that’s fine . It will be shipping from a warehouse with a loading dock in zip code 23093, but I do not live there! I require pickup confirmation the day before and your carrier must provide an emailed printable copy of the Bill of Lading so that there is paperwork available for the driver to sign when he gets there. The BOL should have all the info filled out when I receive it, blank copies are unacceptable. I can ship this to Canada via Old Dominion, but they do not offer customs brokerage services, so you would need to have your own customs broker lined up before it shipped.
