This eBay listing is for a Thomas & Betts T&B #693-40322 Ty-Rap® Installation Tool. This tool dates back to the mid to early 1970’s and was primarily used on twist typeTy-Rap® cable ties. The twist ties were not self-locking and required that the tail of the tie be twisted 180? to fit into the vertical slot in the head of the tie in order to lock it into place before tail cut-off. That type of Ty-Rap® is no longer made. The tool, however, can also be used on current style self-locking ties – sizes 23M, 24M & 25M.  The tool is of plier design, simple to use but it did require user practice to learn to use just the right amount of pressure/pull on the cable tie before depressing the cut-off lever. The tool did not have a built in tension detector that automatically cut off the excess tail. Proper use of the tool is entirely dependent on user feel. It is in excellent and perfect working condition. The #693-40322 tool can safely be called an antique in the world of T&B Ty-Rap® cable ties. The tool is new/old stock never sold or used but has been in inventory for many years. Use it as you would any other cable tie tool or if you are a collector of unusual and/or obsolete tools this one is for you.
