The meter captures and holds minimum and maximum readings, and displays "over" when sound levels are greater than 130 dB. It features a 1/2" electret condenser microphone for detecting sound with a foam windscreen that suppresses noise from air moving across the microphone. It has a four-digit LCD for viewing readings with a backlight for visibility in low light that turns on and off automatically via the meter's built-in ambient light sensor. The unit has a mounting thread for connecting to a tripod and molded rubber housing for a secure grip and impact resistance. It operates on a single 9V battery (sold separately) and turns off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
