A laryngoscope blade capable of improving visualization of the glottic structures without requiring excessive force during tracheal intubation can reduce perioperative morbidity and mortality related to laryngoscopy. The ViewmaxВ® laryngoscope blade from Truphatek International Ltd in Israel is a modified blade that includes an unmagnified optic side port to a standard Macintosh (MAC) blade, allowing an alternative direct view of the glottis while still providing the standard direct view with a MAC-3 blade. The Truphatek Video Laryngoscope TRU EV0 2 SET includes a handle and adult blade 4164E2S suitable for intubation from C.L Grade 1 to C.L Grade 4. The view of the laryngeal structures during the laryngoscopy procedure was classified by the anesthesiologist as grades 1-4, and anesthesiologist satisfaction with the Viewmax laryngoscope was evaluated using a verbal rating score from 0 to 100. The study found that the view of the laryngeal structures through the optic scope on the Viewmax blade compared favorably to the MAC-3 blade and was associated with slightly less applied force during the laryngoscopy procedure.
