Up for auction is NOS, in the box(box does show shelf wear), never used Tycos Original Harvey double-head cardiology stethoscope designed by the late, world renowned cardiologist Harvey W. Proctor of Georgetown University. There is no date on the box, but if I had to guess, from the age of the box and the style of the scope this could possibly be from the late 60's or early 70's, but this is only a guess. This cardiology stethoscope features a chestpiece made from chrome-plated trumpet-brass which give superior reproduction of heart and lung sounds. This same exact design is still produced in a cosmetically updated version by Welch Allyn today that is just how superior this design is that it stands the test of time with only minor cosmetic updates. The adult size corrugated diaphragm amplifies sound and is threaded to unscrew allowing replacement with the included smaller pediatric size diaphragm. This would be a great stethoscope for the ER nurse or doctor where you never know what the next patient may present with or whether it will be a child or adult. You can even unscrew the bell and replace it with the pediatric diaphragm so you have both the adult and ped's diaphragms on at the same time. In the pictures it looks like the chrome is scratched, it is NOT scratched, that is just a bit of dust that showed because of the high-intensity camera flash used for these up-close, high resolution pics; the chrome is shiny and bright. The original box and instruction manual are included. The original natural rubber tubing is two separate tubes giving outstanding sound transmission and is in excellent condition and is soft and flexible without any cracking. I am also including an original genuine replacement set of rubber tubing(2pcs) and a second modern Welch Allyn replacement tube where the two tubes are fused down the center to prevent the artifact noise common with two tubes designs where the tubing rubs on one another. Included is a spare corrugated diaphragm still sealed in the package and a second set of threaded ear pieces. This set does not include a flat diaphragm, but they are available from online Welch Allyn dealers(e.g. Steeles.com) and gives excellent sound reproduction, personally I like the flat diaphragm better than the corrugated as it gives a better interface(seal) with the patients chest. You get the exact items pictured. These almost never come up for bid on eBay so don't miss your chance to own one of the clearest, most accurate sound producing stethoscopes ever produced, you will be amazed with all of the auscultation sounds you have been missing all these years.
