Left over piece of UMHW-PE - Machinable, some surface scratching Tivar® 1000 (natural) UHMW is a cost-effective solution for food handling problems, and meets FDA, USDA and 3-A Dairy guidelines for food processing and handling. Tivar® 1000 UHMW was developed by Poly Hi Solidur (now Quadrant EPP)  UHMW-PE  stands for Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. It’s this extremely high molecular weight that gives UHMW-PE an unsurpassed combination of slickness, toughness and chemical resistance. It’s a common plastic encountered every day in the form of food containers and many home appliances. Because of its low coefficient of friction, UHMW-PE is self-lubricating; it replaces unwanted grease and oil in many applications such as bearings and conveyors. The Food and Drug Administration has approved virgin UHMW for use in the food industry.  Actual size may be slightly bigger as I have rounded down on the measurements.
