UNIMAT SL DB Lathe Accessory Connects a standard Jacobs drill chuck to UNIMAT tailstock M12-1.0 mm bushings to 1/2”-20 pin end, aluminum, hex Size: Metric M12-1.0 mm bushings (threaded hole) to English 1/2”-20 bolt end Purpose of that tool: Connects standard Jacobs drill chuck to UNIMAT tailstock. The accessory is tested on an UNIMAT SL DB 200 Materials: Steel, hex bar - the hex shape allows for easy mounting on the lathe spindle Options: M12 = M14 = same price, but need to be made. LatheCity shall not be liable for any damage caused by unprofessional use of LatheCity accessories. A 1/2 -20 adapter allows for using a somewhat larger Jacobs drill chuck in a small benchtop lathe. Therefore, somewhat larger diameter drill bits can be used on a small lathe. However, don’t over-do it! Mounting a huge drill bit in a huge Jacobs drill chuck can result in unstable (dangerous) working conditions on a small lathe. The lathe tailstock can be damaged beyond repair. When using large drill bits, it’s not too hard to jam the drill bit in the work piece, i.e., use the correct RPM and plenty of cutting oil. The larger the diameter the smaller the RPM. Use a small feed of the drill bit and remove chips frequently. When pulling back the tailstock make sure not to pull the work piece out of the chuck. Design details (diameter of stock rod used) may deviate from the image shown which does not affect the function of the accessory. Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
