To open this lock, you need to first insert the key and unlock the lock on the front of the padlock. This unblocks the bottom keyhole, which opens the lock. Each keyhole takes its own individual key, so it is like a safe deposit lock. Of each set of keys is given to a different person, both must be present to open the lock, one person cannot open the lock without the other. The lock on the front is 4 pins and the lock on the bottom is 5 pins, which means that a person trying to pick the lock has to pick two locks and 9 pins in total.
