Unusual Old Antique 14” x 17 1/4” x 4” Non-Ferrous Metal Key Storage Box Cabinet With Corbin Lock, 14 Key Capacity 1940s? Aluminum? Zoom In Or Click On Pictures And Please Read Our Detailed Item Description Below, Please View Our Other Auctions Here, Combine Items To Save On Shipping This auction is for what we believe to be an unusual antique non-ferrous metal key storage cabinet. We were unable to find another one like it and do not know how old it is. Based on its design we are guessing that it dates back to the 1940s. We do not see any manufacturer’s marks on the cabinet and are unsure as to who made it or as to where it was made. The cabinet lock is marked CORBIN CABINET LOCK DIV. NEW BRITAIN, CONN. U.S.A. 272. Please note that we do not have a key for the lock and were thus unable to test it. The cabinet door does still shut and stay closed when the handle is turned in the upright position. The handle operates 2 large bars that insert into holes when the handle is turned. We tested the cabinet with a magnet and we could not get the magnet to attract to any part of it with the exception of some screw heads and the locking bars that are operated by the handle. The handle, Corbin lock, hanging hooks, hinges also appear not to be attracted to a magnet. We are unsure as to what type of metal the cabinets and components are made of and are guessing that they may be made from aluminum and/or nickel plated brass. The cabinet measures roughly 14” x 17 1/4” x 4” at its furthest points not including the handle. The cabinet appears to have been painted some time ago by the previous owner. The paint has chipping, flaking, aging, discoloration, and dirty and/or stained areas. The cabinet looks to be free of any denting or broken parts. The cabinet has what we believe to be a screw, nut, or washer trapped within one of the walls that can be heard moving around when the cabinet is tipped. The cabinet weighs roughly 7 lbs 8 oz.
