100' BELDEN Hook-Up Wire (USA MANUFACTURE) PART NUMBER:  83007 008 COLOR: GRAY This is BRAND NEW (2003), 20 AWG Silver Plated, Teflon Insulated, Stranded Copper, Hook-up Wire--on a plastic reel--never cut or used.  Since 2005, production of this wire has been moved to Mexico. Retail price of 100' new "Mexican" wire is about $66.00. THIS WIRE IS 100% MADE IN USA. I worked for Speedster Amplifiers, personally designing, wiring and building over 150 Guitar amps, before they ceased production in 2006. I purchased many of the surplus parts and materials at that time. This wire is perfect for Boutique-Quality Guitar Amp Builds and High-End Audio.  This BELDEN stranded wire is absolutely superior, both in sound and performance. Treble frequencies tend to travel on the surface of the wire. Compared to solid-core wire, stranded wire has significantly more surface area--taking into account the surface of each individual strand.  - THE RESULT: Clearer, more detailed and musical sounding Highs.  The soft, rubbery PVC insulation on typical solid-core wire also absorbs highs an makes for a somewhat vague sounding,"slower" treble response. The Teflon insulation on this BELDEN wire allows a "faster" response.  - THE RESULT: Better dynamics,"sensitivity" and articulation. The typical PVC insulation of solid-core wire, can melt easily during soldering. Teflon insulation will not melt with a soldering iron.  - THE RESULT: Easier, Cleaner and more professional looking builds. This BELDEN copper wire is SILVER PLATED, for superior conductivity and electronic "cleanliness" at each-and-every solder connection.  - THE RESULT: Superior sound and durability, throughout the circuit. Also, solid-core wire is prone to breakage over time. Each time you load, set-up or play your amplifier, vibrations cause the wire to slightly flex.
