The Original VACO #1900 A Real Lug Crimper - Not Just a Lug Hugger Strips Wire & Cuts Bolts too! This tool hasn't been made for a long time. I still have my original, even though I would have replace it 20 years ago if they had still been available. This gem came from an estate and now that I'm retired, I'll simply pass it along. Apparently it belonged to a careless non-electrician home owner because it's been zapped twice. Perhaps it was simultaneous (happened during the same event). Once near the tip, and once on the frame near the word cutter. This in no way deters from the functionality of this wonderful tool. See the true condition in the great photos I took with my Kodak. Because of the zapps I'll include a FREE size 1 Screw Extractor I've always used a crimp tool as opposed to a squeeze tool because the connection to a lug or spade terminal is mechanically superior. This holds true for a spliced crimp connection as well. Not to say I've never used a squeeze type tool where policy forbade the use of positive crimp tools, but I must admit the connection failure rate was not something to be proud of. The crimp action is positive, and works with both Un-insulated, and Insulated Sta-Kons. Apparently the concern was that the crimp action may pierce the insulation of an insulated crimp terminal, however the insulation of a quality lug is usually thick enough that, if pierced, it reforms. I've never found it to be a hazard, or failure prone, even for small 480 V 3? motors. The striper works great on AWG #22 through #10 solid wire, and #22 through #12 stranded wire. The bolt cutters are threaded to the Electrician's favorite Sizes: · 4-40 · 6-32 · 8-32 · 10-24 · 10-32 Sorry, 1/4 -20 still requires a nut, vice and a hack saw, that being said, in an emergency, they will cut stainless steel, but it's not recommended.
