The Valpar Mechanical Assembly and Hammering Job Skills Test is designed to assess work skills that require the proper selection, placement, and use of various hand tools. The test involves assembling articles, fastening them together with bolts and washers, driving objects into grooves, and light hammering. The work sample is hardware-based and consists of four separate exercises. Scores may be interpreted against criterion-referenced standards or locally developed norms, making it appropriate for use with both disabled and nondisabled individuals. Multiple administrations of the four exercises are recommended due to their short duration. In their standard format, all four exercises take approximately 40 minutes to administer. The work sample is a blue, plastic, padded case containing a variety of tools and parts, including a hard rubber assembly block, a tool case, a rubber mat, an ink pad, hammers, wrenches, bolts, nuts, and washers. The test also comes with pads of hammering sheets and scoring sheets, as well as illustration cards and a manual. Please note that Allen wrench, one pad of 100 scoring sheets, and five pads of hammering sheets are missing and available to order from the company website.
